At its Vintage Hollywood Autographs, Photos & Collectible Postcards sale on June 8, Britannic Auctions of Phoenix, Arizona, is offering rare pieces of memorabilia from one of history’s most influential film directors.
Lot 200 includes Alfred Hitchcock’s hand-drawn storyboards, set diagrams, and extensive production notes from his 1948 movie, Rope. The previously unseen materials from this groundbreaking movie offer collectors, film historians, and enthusiasts a rare glimpse into the creative process of one of cinema’s most renowned filmmakers.
A psychological crime thriller starring beloved actor Jimmy Stewart, Rope is notable for taking place in real time and for the unique editing that makes it seem like the movie is one single continuous shot. The items in the lot give insights into Hitchcock’s innovative techniques and processes, making this a rare opportunity for collectors and film buffs to own some cinema history.
This lot and nearly seventy others included in the sale come from the private collection of the late Robert Graham Wahn, a Warner Brothers publicist who worked with Hitchcock throughout the filmmaker’s later career into the 1960s.

We tend to fill our homes’ rooms with furniture, throw pillows, art, books, and various decorative objects. While this can result in a mix of different looks and styles, the perfect rug can tie it all together.
Collectors know that just the right antique carpet can not only bring a room together but also add character and charm. Casco Bay of Freeport, Maine, is offering several in its Fine Art & Antiques auction on June 8, including lot 476, an antique room-size Heriz carpet, which eager bidders have already pushed past its high estimate.
With a palette of rich, warm colors and distinctive large-scale motifs, antique Heriz carpets are among the most popular Persian carpets. Traditionally handwoven by village artisans, they were produced in the Heriz area near Mount Sabalan in northwest Iran.
These rugs are best known for their geometric designs, nature-inspired motifs of flowers and foliage, and vivid rust color, which is created by processing completed rugs in copper-laced waters. Durable and made from 100-percent wool, Heriz carpets are timeless investments.

During the early 19th century Regency era, intensive musical, visual, and technical upgrades turned the harp into a sophisticated instrument and status symbol rivaling pianos. A key figure in this transformation was inventor Sébastien Érard (1752–1831), one of the biggest manufacturers of harps in London and Paris.
Leland Little of Hillsborough, North Carolina, is offering one of Érard’s historic harps in its Decorative Art Auction on June 14. Lot 2027 is an early 19th-century gilt and ebonized wood harp with forty-three strings and eight pedals. With a Greek-themed decoration, it features caryatids on top of the pillar, female percussionists on the soundboard, and winged musicians on the base.
Érard’s Grecian harps, introduced in 1811, became the first commercially built double-action harps and state-of-the-art instruments. Highly decorative harps like this one also exuded luxury and wealth, and learning to play one was a requirement for well-to-do young women.
Thanks to the popularity of the Netflix series Bridgerton, there has been a renewed interest in Regency antiques during the past few years. Objects like this harp are not only pieces of music history but also beautiful decorative art.

As more people traveled during the 19th century, fancy trunks became status symbols, but none more so than the ones French designer Louis Vuitton began making in 1854. Expertly crafted and durable yet stylish, these travel trunks today remain among the most iconic luxury items and are beloved and highly pursued by collectors worldwide.
At its Advertising Signs, Toys, Coin-Ops, Coins & More sale on June 15, Milestone Auctions of Willoughby, Ohio, is offering lot 428A, a vintage Louis Vuitton car trunk with two fitted suitcases representing the epitome of automotive elegance.
Vuitton began designing these trunks, one of the company’s most classic designs, in the early 20th century when automobiles became more widely available. Car trunks like the Autoski, later named Excelsior, could be attached to the back of many vehicles and contained separate suitcases.
Whether it’s these automobile pieces, hat, library, steamer, or other models, there’s a reason why Louis Vuitton trunks remain in demand with collectors: With their history, exceptional craftsmanship, and versatility, they have stood the test of time.

Carved carousel animals are some of the most whimsical and desired pieces of American folk art. While horses are the most common and popular, collectors also pursue plenty of other animals.
Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates of Mt. Crawford, Virginia, is offering two such dynamic and desirable examples during its four-day Premier Americana auction June 19–22. Day Three: The Collection of Katherine “Kitty Sue” Pease on June 21 features lot 1099, one of two folk art hand-carved and hand-painted carousel goats attributed to the Pennsylvania workshop of Gustav Dentzel.
Dentzel is considered to be America’s first carver of carousel animals. He began making them in 1867 in Germantown, Pennsylvania, during the golden age of carousel (1890s–1920s). His brother, William, joined him in making the animals in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and they produced a whole menagerie of sought-after carousel animals that tend to fetch thousands at auction.
The appeal of carousel animals extends far beyond them being fanciful pieces of art; collectors are also drawn to them for the merry-go-round of memories and nostalgia they create.
